CAT TRACKS: A different slant on a traditional block makes this an interesting quilt. The animal and African prints really make the blocks stand out. Batiks would be great too! Book required.

INTERMEDIATE MACHINE QUILTING: This class is for those who have explored beginning machine quilting but would like to learn more. This class is geared toward the quilter who can do simple machine quilting basics but wants to learn more elaborate designs and how to stitch them. This is taught, using your home sewing machine.

INTRODUCTION TO MACHINE QUILTING: Learn to machine quilt, using your own home sewing machine. You will learn to quilt loops and curves, free motion designs and a feathered wreath. Learn to stipple, plus, much, more. This is a beginning one-day class where you will learn the art of free motion heirloom machine quilting.

JAPANESE FAN: This is a really easy and fun quilt to make. If you have ever wanted to make something out of those beautiful Japanese prints, this is a great quilt to do that with. It is also a good way to use some of the small strips you have left over. I used Japanese prints because I wanted to design a Japanese quilt, however it can be done with many different fabrics. If you would like to use fabrics from your stash, get creative. Pattern required.

PIECING 101: In this class you will learn to rotary cut and piece six different blocks. 6ou will learn how to sew them together and how to add borders to make a wall hanging (quilt top) approximately 40”x40”. Quilting and binding the quilt are not a part of this class. This is a three day class.

TOMORROW’S TREASURE: Do you have a collection of fabrics you’d like to use? This pattern would be great for them! Each block is its own fabric/color, and in the block you’ll find quick and easy piecing techniques. Along with the quilt, I’ve included directions to piece a ‘sawtooth border’ as well as a main border. You’ll have several sizes to choose from.

FIBER ART CLASSES

EASY EMBELLISHED VEST: This class is mainly about embellishment - learning about and playing with various techniques such as stenciling, using paint and paintsticks, sheer overlays, scrunching, discharging  and whatever else I can think of! Bring your own toys (supplies) such as paint, brushes, dyes, stencils, paintstiks, etc., or use mine.  There will be a one-time supply charge of $10 if you chose to play with my toys.  Intermediate sewing knowledge recommended. Pattern required.

You need to come in and see Carol’s sample for this class. I’ve taken pictures, but I’m not that good at this. She has created a sample that shows you a lot of options for embellishing.

FABRIC ORIGAMI: Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding.  Fabric Origami uses fabric instead of paper. Come join us for an afternoon experimenting with this fun new craft. Just stiffen some fabric, iron, cut a square and fold. You will need to purchase a kit before class. The kit is $18.00 and includes Stiffy Fabric Stiffener, Applicator for fabric stiffener, a bone folder, and 1 pattern.   Lori Orlando and Debbie DiNino   $20   Beginner Monday, September 22  10:00 -1:00 

INTRODUCTION TO SILK PAINTING: This is a very basic class where you will get to play with silk paints & resists seeing how the whole process works. You will not necessarily be very skilled when you complete the class but you will have the basics & know if you want to peruse the technique farther. It’s a hands-on class. Instructor will supply the stretched silk, paints and brushes. Book recommended. MAKING JOURNAL COVERS: These are fun and you can go wild once you get hooked. We will make 3 different covers, with three different bindings. Journals can be for anything from sketches and ideas you have for quilts and knitting or your personal thoughts. Great gift for a special friend.

KNITTING CLASSES

BEGINNING KNITTING: This class is for those who have never knitted, or who have minimal knitting skills. We will make a hat which will be knit in the round because that is the easiest way to make a hat. Be sure to check the supply list as it is very specific.

DESIGN YOUR OWN CABLE SWEATER: The first class will involve designing your sweater on paper – don’t panic. It’s really easy. You will also pick out your yarn in class. The second class, you will work on the sweater.

KNITTED RUFFLED SHAWL: Picking from the beautiful yarns available is the hardest part of this class. You will learn the basic technique that creates the ruffle. It is a technique you will use on other patterns in the future. Be sure to check the gauge on your supply list before choosing yarn.

During this class you will greatly expand your knitting ability. Part of what you will learn is how to choose a pattern and the yarn. The class is five sessions; if you miss one, you can make it up at another 1B class.
